Styled by Jessie: Elegant Hairstyles for Your Special Day

To be honest, I’ve never really felt like a ‘girly girl’ (I only started dying my hair and getting my nails done last year!).

At any party, family gathering or event I have been invited to, I often leave my hair down (as attempting to create gorgeous curls never goes to plan!). I would stand in my bedroom scrolling through Pinterest in awe of these elegant hairstyles people had been able to create and make look so effortless. After what felt like forever trying to recreate them, I reached to my faithful straighteners and quickly ran over my hair!

A unique hairstyle feels like the final touch when getting ready after spending weeks trying to find the perfect outfit and nail design.

Last year, I discovered Styled by Jessie, a Mobile Hairstylist that creates soft and effortless hairstyles for your special occasion.

When did your journey as a hair stylist begin?

My journey began a long time before I launched Styled by Jessie.

I was always the hairstylist of the friend group - it was always ‘Jessie, would you mind doing my hair for this wedding’ or ‘Can you quickly do mine for me?’ And of course, I always said yes.

What started as a favour for my best friends soon became something I realised I loved.

It was my friends who encouraged me to turn this natural passion into a business and in 2025 I created my Instagram platform @styledbyjessie_ . It was a big step for me, but one I will always be grateful I had the courage to do.

What power do you believe a good hairstyle can have?

A good hairstyle holds so much power in my opinion, it’s not just how it looks, it’s how it makes the client feel.

The right style can transform someone’s confidence. Being able to see their smiles at the end of the appointment is something I never take for granted.

Describe your creative process.

I love it when clients come to me with inspiration photos, it gives me something to really understand their vision.

From this I tend to adapt and tailor the style to suit them personally. I often consider face shape, hair type, outfit and the style of the event.

Sometimes we re-create looks, other times we have to change things slightly to enhance their features.

What do you enjoy most about working with every customer on a hairstyle?

I love the entire process from start to finish.

From the back and forth of messages discussing what they want and when to book in, to their first sit down in the chair and to the final reveal and seeing their reaction to what I have created.

There is something special about that final moment when they question ‘how on earth have you done that’!

What is your proudest achievement to date?

My proudest achievement to date is having the confidence to actually start this business in the first place.

When I created Styled by Jessie, I had no idea whether people would like my work or even want to book in, but seeing my weekends become full and people booking in for their weddings and special occasions months in advance is something I am incredibly proud of.

Do you have a favourite hairstyle?

I absolutely love full volume up-dos.

The modern, yet timeless soft and elegant styles are the ones I have most fun recreating. My favourites have to be the French twist, high volume bun or any textured up-dos.

How do you keep up to date with the latest trends in the hair industry?

I spend ALOT (probably too much time) looking on Tik Tok and Instagram on bridal stylists and industry professionals.

I find most clients have an idea of what they like and I sometimes offer advice or a little twist on these to stay current yet timeless whilst keeping it individual to each person.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to enter the hair industry?

Just go for it.

As daunting as it can feel, if you are genuinely passionate about something, it will shine through, and honestly? You have nothing to lose.

The only thing holding you back is yourself. Being a hairstylist is so rewarding, you share special moments with people on some of the biggest days of their lives.

Do you have any plans for the rest of 2026?

I am so excited for this year ahead, I have already booked onto training courses so I can add new services, such as bouncy blow dries.

Beyond that, I am looking forward to seeing where the journey takes Styled by Jessie!
