Social Sisters Norwich: A Community Built on Connection, Memories and Laughter!
I’ll admit it, I spend way too much on my phone most days ‘doomscrolling’ and hiding away.
Even though I know I’ll feel better for getting out for a walk or grabbing a coffee, I sometimes can’t seem to drag myself away. Before I know it, an hour (or more!) has passed.
Your twenties can be a disorientating time – some people are starting a family, buying their first house, getting married or receiving promotions at work. I don’t know about you, but I often wonder why I feel so behind, if I am following the right path and whether other people feel the same way as I do?
I recently caught up with Esme and Kat, the Founders of Social Sisters Norwich, a community for women in their twenties across Norfolk to meet friends, try a new event and navigate this exciting (but busy!) period of life.
Whether you decide to bring a friend along or show up alone, Social Sisters Norwich will welcome you into their incredible community.
When did Social Sisters Norwich begin (and what was the inspiration behind it)?
Social Sisters Norwich was formed in October 2025 with the hope of getting women in their 20s together to create a sisterhood in Norwich where they could meet up, have fun and build new friendships.
We love our little community which has already started to grow, and it’s such a pleasure to watch women come together, share stories, try new activities, visit new places and gain confidence.
What does the community aim to achieve?
This community was created by women for women in Norwich.
We love to ask our members what type of events they’d like to attend. We aim to develop this idea and achieve a real feeling of womanhood.
The city’s businesses, from coffee shops to saunas, are also a key part of our culture and we enjoy spending time at the huge variety of venues available - and we are discovering new and exciting places all the time.
Social media can sometimes have a negative impact on people’s confidence and self-esteem, highlighting the need to have a healthy relationship with these platforms.
How does your community help create an empowering environment that celebrates social media?
We believe social media is a powerful tool when used in the correct way.
We love the creative side of sharing our events and (with consent) sharing images of all the confident women who come to our socials.
We feel it is empowering to show the world all the independent women who come to our socials on their own, to meet new people and make worthwhile connections.
What do you enjoy most about working with local independent businesses for your events?
Norfolk has so many amazing local businesses whom we take pride in teaming up with.
We love to showcase these wonderful companies by hosting our events there, or using their products, and generally building meaningful relationships with them.
We love discovering the stories behind these businesses, and the positive impacts they have on our community.
We plan to keep growing as a community and finding new ideas and businesses to work with!
Describe Social Sisters Norwich in three words!
Community, friendship and fun!
How can women get involved with the community?
We post all our events on our TikTok and Instagram accounts using @socialsisters_norwich.
We also have a community WhatsApp which can be found in our bios.
Before each event we create an event specific group chat so the women can get to know each other prior to the actual event and ask any questions they might have.
Do you have a favourite event you have hosted?
We have loved all of them!
Our first ever social will always hold a special place in our hearts as 40 amazing women showed up to a pub quiz! It was simply amazing to see so many women come together and have a great time.
What is your proudest achievement since launching Social Sisters Norwich?
I think seeing friendships blossom and women chatting as if they’ve always known each other even if they just met that day!
We always say that you never know who you may meet and it’s lovely to observe.
There is often lots of pressure for women in their 20s – how important is it for girls to have Social Sisters Norwich as an escape and a place to connect with others feeling the same way?
Your 20s are an exciting time of life with lots of different opportunities to explore.
Having these socials to attend where you can put down your phone and have fun is such an important thing. We can all swap stories and experiences and grow from sharing our thoughts - and sometimes, worries.
What would you say to those wanting to get involved with the community?
We, as hosts, get nervous before events so it’s completely normal to be a little apprehensive about coming along.
We advise that it’s good to have some conversation starters in your mind beforehand, and then just walk in with a smile on your face and introduce yourself! Confidence is key!
Plus, there will always be a host there to make sure everyone feels welcome and included. There is absolutely no pressure on anyone and we are all in the same boat.
What do you aim to achieve in 2026?
We plan to keep growing as a community and be recognisable as a space for women, in Norwich, that they can come if they ever need support of a friendly face to have a catch up.
Possibly, in the future, we may plan a weekend staycation. And ultimately, of course, to have plenty of fun!
What are you waiting for?! Ditch the ‘doomscrolling’ and sign up to an event with Social Sisters Norwich – you never know who you might meet, the skills you’ll learn and the conversations you’ll have!
