About Me

I am an aspiring journalist from Norwich currently taking a gap year in order to broaden my journalistic skills further. I present 'Norwich Today' and 'Saturday Brunch' on Future Radio and am also a Production Assistant for Future Radio.

I was an editor and writer for my sixth form's magazine, 'EXiA', which won 'Best Magazine' at the 2023 Shine Media awards. As well as this, I created my sixth form's first podcast, called 'The Lion's Den', which won 'Highly Commended' at the 2023 Shine Media awards.

Last year I was chosen for to be featured on BBC Radio One's ''Minute of Me' competition and had a radio segment on BBC Radio Norfolk's 'The Social', called 'With Love'.

I have had work experience with the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich Evening News and Norfolk Live.

I have recently received radio work experience with Coast FM in Gran Canaria, which allowed me to present the news.

My vision

People would be silenced without the media. The power of journalism should continue to be utilised to give a voice to those who feel silenced, influence the next generation and provide education which can be used as a powerful tool to make change. The world of journalism is constantly shifting alongside our society and I want to provide positivity to make the world of news an empowering place for our next generation. People should never 'fear' the news and I want more people to embrace the media.

EXiA

Whenever people ask me, 'where did your love for journalism come from?', there's one simple answer- EXiA. Through entering my sixth form's magazine last year, I began to truly discover and appreciate the power of my voice and the media. Writing articles on topics I am passionate about, such as sweatshops in last year's edition, as well as sexism in sport, I began to open my eyes to the influence I can make through my words. This inspired me to continue with my participation in this year's edition, becoming a writer and editor. The position of editor is invaluable in allowing me to see and discover how others use their voice to their potential. With articles on the concept of genderless parenting and another on how feminism has changed, which I have explored through a series of interviews with men, I continue to prove my determination to make a difference in the media. Good journalism will leave the reader wanting to make a difference and I want to continue to use my voice to leave people thinking, 'what if I...?' or 'could I make a difference too?'. I want my work to make a difference and be unforgettable.

The Lion's Den

Get ready to find your inner roar as you enter 'The Lion's Den'. My podcast, focused on highlighting the importance and influence of the student voice, aims to give my generation the recognition they deserve in a society which seems to silence so many. I want to speak up for those who feel as if they can't and make everyone realise their voice deserves to be heard. Mental health continues to grow as a concern for my generation and I want people to feel strong enough to speak up, as this is a sign of power and not weakness. Nobody deserves to be silenced and through exploring many topics, such as the controversy of education, mental health and climate change, I want to prove how we as a generation are capable of so much more and we will make a difference.

With Love

Have you ever heard someone say, 'I'm too scared to see what has happened in the news today'?  I certainly have and that is what inspired me to create my series of 'With Love', which featured on BBC Radio Norfolk's 'The Social'.  In a world of growing expectations and pressures, especially for my generation, and a society which seems to change daily, we need a place to escape to. 'With Love' is a positive getaway to make people realise how the media can be a force of empowerment, rather than fear. Through topics such as feminism, art and body positivity, I prove the power of looking at life through a ray of sunshine!

What's next?

I have also started getting in contact with people in a range of industries, from music, art and retail, so I can start to discover the unique character of each person's journey. I aim to create a range of written pieces, to celebrate the diversity and talent which exists around us.
